Easy ways to create a country bathroom
Exuding elegance and cosiness, country bathrooms never go out of fashion and will always be a desirable style, especially in period and more traditional properties.
This style of bathroom typically combines vintage fittings with natural materials. Take a look at the following six easy ways to create a charming and stylish country bathroom.
Heritage shades
The choice of colour is important when designing a country bathroom. Opt for heritage hues such as muted greens, duck egg and powder blues. Warm neutrals also work will with this style of bathroom.
Patterned wallpaper
Patterned wallpaper crafts a vintage look. Wallpaper adorned in vintage-inspired prints is trending now and will bring a feeling of homeliness and comfort to this well-used living space that is perfect for the dark and cold months ahead.
Rustic materials
Merge heritage tones and patterned wallpaper with natural materials, such as stone, wood, and metal, for a true country feel. Traditional tongue-and-groove wooden panelling makes a great feature in this style of bathroom. As does stone flooring, coupled with a vintage wooden dresser and other antique furniture. For a real country look opt for a natural stone basin or one made from antique metal.
Vintage tiles
If you prefer your bathroom walls and/or flooring to be tiled, opt for vintage-style tiles, such as a black-and-white checkerboard design or retro-style tiles in antique pastel tones.
Tile-covered walls and flooring are easy to maintain, long-lasting and will make a great addition to this type of bathroom.
Country-style accessories
The right accessories can work wonders when trying to craft a specific look in any living space, and none no more so when designing a country-style bathroom. Choose long linen curtains or a Roman blind to accentuate vintage wallpaper. Put floral fabric towels on display, accompanied with floral flannels. For larger bathrooms, make a vintage-style unholstered armchair a key feature, for a truly luxurious look.
