Interior design trends in the pipeline for 2021

It’s safe to say that nobody will be sorry to see the back of 2020. The new year could not come fast enough, and with it, hope of optimism and better times ahead. Adding excitement to the arrival of 2021 is the raft of eye-catching and innovative interior design trends poised to be popular.

As always, New i.d Interiors likes to be on the pulse of the button when it comes to the latest décor trends. Take a look at the following five interior design ‘must-haves’ in the pipeline for 2021.

Rustic vogue

Fans of rustic, country home décor will be pleased to learn that this characterful, timeless interior style will be back with a vengeance in 2021.

Hailed as ‘rustic vogue’, the trend will embrace all those rustic features we never fail to love, such as exposed chunky beams and original floorboards. Embracing a modern edge, rustic features will combine modern elements for a truly on-trend look.

Bring out the vintage

Staying on a rustic theme, 2021 will be all about welcoming vintage décor into our homes. Think antique and retro salvaged pieces brought to life with vibrant colours and patterns. Now’s the perfect time to start scouring the antique stores for classic vintage items.

Global influences

Another must-have interior trend for 2021 is décor infused with global influences. Think bathrooms resonant of Spanish “banos” with terracotta tiles and ceramic sinks, and Indian-esque living rooms with shiny brass, bright colours, and oversized sculptures.

Textured walls

Textured walls are going to be big in 2021. Walls doused in texture come in a myriad of styles. Poised to be popular are walls dressed in marble and stone, providing natural and eye-catching texture on the walls of living spaces.

Wall panels are set to make a revival, as is wallpaper that resonates textured materials like marble and stone, offering a simpler way to bring texture to a room without having to carry out a full renovation.

Minimalist art

Art will never go out of fashion, but from an interior design perspective, next year is primed to be all about minimalist art. Unfussy art that blends seamlessly with the décor of a room and that is clutter-free and easy-on-the-eye, will be making its way inside the home of the most up-to-date and fashionable of homeowners in 2021.
