‘’Truro is Cornwall’s only city, based in the very southern part of England. With a population of about 22000 it offers a lot of amenities and is accessible by rail, air and road. Truro boasts a neo–gothic cathedral that dominates the skyline and attracts a lot of visitors per year. Also appealing to tourists and residents alike is ‘Lemon Quay’; a former site for river boats to unload, which is now a paved plaza that hosts music concerts, art and craft fairs and markets selling local produce.

New i.d were commissioned by Zero C to design a show home for this enchanting city. The target market was a young family with two children (a boy and a girl).  New i.d needed to produce a scheme that reflected the atmosphere of Truro whilst incorporating a lifestyle of a family that would reside in this interesting Cornish city.

All elements of the interior were considered very carefully. The wallpapers and window treatment fabric selected, gave a fresh modern feel but also highlighted the purpose of each room. The boys room wallpaper was of guitars, cameras and bicycles, the girls room roman blind fabric was made up of illustrations from Roald Dahls ‘Matilda’ book.

The use of light woods and rustic furniture enhanced the Cornish theme, and the materials used were an array of textures and modern geometrics patterns, from wool tartans to faux leathers. All the finishes, furniture and fittings were combined to create the urban family atmosphere of Truro.

The staging of all the objet d’art concluded the look and complimented the design of each room. The accessories added to the appearance of each space so the potential purchaser could picture themselves living in this beautiful home.

Zero C were very impressed by the finished show homes and feel that new id did an outstanding project; delivering a show home that would definitely attract their target market.’’
