About

Sandringham

Jewish Care is the largest health and social care organisation serving the Jewish community in London and the South East. They run 9 residential care homes and over 70 health and social care services online and in person, touching the lives of 10,000 people every week. Their 3,000 volunteers support 1,200 staff in the delivery of these services, including Meals on Wheels, telephone befriending and virtual programming. Through their helpline and social work and community support team, Jewish Care are here for the community in the most difficult of times.

Their model of wrap-around care is unique and seen by many as a model for the future of the delivery of social care. At different stages in their lives, people from across the community turn to Jewish Care for support and in return, Jewish Care relies on the community to support its services.

The development comprises 48 one and two bedroom apartments with additional communal areas for the residence to enjoy. There is a café/restaurant and other shops for use.

New ID Living were appointed interior designers for the project which includes design and delivery of the 2 bedroom show apartment.

” We were asked by Jewish Care to produce a scheme for a 2 bedroom show apt. The site offers 24 hour care with a communal lounge that gives the opportunity for socialising with family, friends and neighbours. Residence have the independence of living in their own apartment with the benefit of additional socialising with the development.  The blocks are set in beautiful landscaped woodlands with walks and footpaths to explore.

The brief for our design was to appeal to a discerning mature resident that would maybe in time need higher levels of care and support in their private home. With this in mind we produced a scheme using the exterior as our inspiration and focused on a palette of greens, oranges and blues. Using leaf patterns, nature themes and botanical images; a functional but aesthetically pleasing interior was presented.  All pieces of furniture considered the homeowner with the style and finish; we also contrasted colours on all items so they could be easily be distinguished”
