Danny Caplan is a judge at the LSL Property Press Awards
In March this year New ID Interior’s managing director, Danny Caplan was a judge at the prestigious LSL Property Press Awards. The annual awards are compiled by LSL Property Services, one of the UK’s leading providers of residential property services. The awards are designed to recognise the outstanding work and achievements of the UK’s leading property journalists. The fact Danny was asked to be a judge for such a widely esteemed event is testimony at just how reputable and well-known New ID has become.
The LSL Property Press Awards 2014
These national awards involve many of the UK’s most respected property journalists sending in entries related to 16 different categories. A panel of 40 judges, which are, according to the LSL Property Press, “renowned property industry experts,” read the entries and give them a mark out of ten.
Danny Caplan was a judge for the Lifestyle and Interiors category. With an increasing amount of newspaper supplements devoting space to lifestyle and interiors, LSL Property Services felt it was important to recognise this popular side of property writing. The judges were looking for “aspirational” features, which give homeowners ideas about enhancing and adding value to a property.
Danny was sent 60 articles of which he gave marks out of ten, following a criteria of aspirational lifestyle and interior writing. New ID’s managing director then sent the score sheet to Wriglesworth Consultancy, PR experts in property, who then decided the final winners.
And the winners are…
On March 17, 2014 the winners were announced at an exclusive Champagne reception at the ultra-trendy Chic 8 off Trafalgar Square, London. In the Lifestyle and Interiors section, freelance journalist Hugh Graham was announced the winner. Emma Wells, of the Sunday Times, was given the Silver award and freelance journalist, Ruth Bloomfield came in bronze position in this highly competitive category.
Property journalism
As the property market is incessantly changing, a good property journalist has to be as flexible as the market itself. This demand for flexibility means property journalism is one of the most difficult sectors of factual reporting there is.
The prestigious LSL Property Press Awards recognise, acknowledge and celebrate the challenges property writers are set against.
New ID Interior’s Danny Caplan was delighted to be involved in such an important, often under-valued and rewarding segment of journalism and the property industry.
