Preparing your outdoor living space for al-fresco living this autumn

Having basked in sunshine for months, we’ll be sorry to say goodbye to the fabulous British summer of 2018. The good news is that while the weeks ahead might not be as sunny and warm, we can prepare our outdoor spaces for some al-fresco living during the autumn.

Take a look at the following ways to gear your outdoor space for autumn so you can make the most of it long after the summer has been and gone.

Introduce outdoor lighting

Outdoor lighting extends your living space and can be incredibly useful to ensure you can use your external space when the nights start to draw in during autumn.

Hanging solar lights, lanterns and fairy lights around your garden can be a beautiful way to highlight key features, such as a gnarly old tree, a well-maintained lawn or a stylish pergola.

Outdoor lighting is a quick and cost-effective way to ensure your outdoor living space remains warm and inviting as the autumn chill ascends.

Light up the patio fire pit

If you’ve not yet got a fire pit, now’s the time the get one! Not only do fire pits make an eye-catching feature on a patio, but they provide the perfect excuse to sit outside, relax and socialise in your garden, well through the autumn and into the winter.

Placing some comfortable garden furniture around your fire pit is all you’ll need to create a cosy and welcoming al-fresco setting to make the most of the autumn evenings.

Prepare your lawn

With the summer behind us, it’s not uncommon for lawns can become a little neglected during the autumn and before you know it, they’re looking a tad worse for wear.

Now’s the time to give your lawn some TLC to prepare it for the colder weather ahead and to ensure you can enjoy a beautiful-looking lawn in the autumn.

Add fertilizer to your lawn so it has the vital nutrients to keep it in tip-top condition all the way through until next summer.

Treat your garden to an outdoor swing chair

Having cosy places to lay back and lounge about will encourage you to get outside and enjoy your garden despite the chillier weather.

Treat your outdoor space to a stylish all-weather outdoor swing chair or hammock, so you can sit back with a cup of coffee, glass of wine and a book, to make the most of your outdoor space during this beautiful time of year.
