Five must-have décor trends for autumn 2020

The kids are back to school (finally), the evenings are drawing in, and the leaves are beginning to curl at the edges. It’s safe to say, autumn has arrived. Like the start of every new season, the beginning of autumn can be the perfect time to give your home a makeover and get it cosy, stylish and in-keeping with the colder weather, in time for, dare we say it… Christmas!

To give you a helping hand in creating an interior fit for the cover of Hello magazine, check out the following ten must-have décor trends for autumn 2020.

Embrace rich and bejewelled tones

This autumn is all about luxury, opulence and sparkle. Think heavy fabrics of rich and vibrant colours, such as burnt orange, burgundy and teal.

Bring out abstract energy

Autumn 2020 is synonymous with being free-spirited and abstract. Don’t be afraid to experiment with abstract styles, such as bold geometrics, playful injections of colour and hand-drawn sketches to evoke an aura of creativeness and emotion.

Global influences

If you love travelling, use your home to show your passion for travel, which is another dominate theme in trending interior styles this season.

Even if you’re not a seasoned traveller, you can still embrace this trend by incorporating furnishings, fittings and styles from around the world into your living spaces. Think ceramics from Spain, animal prints from Asia, and cushions from Cuba to bring a globalised, multifaceted appeal into your home.

Adhere to the ‘grandmillennial’ trend

The grandmillennial what, you might ask? Dubbed as the ‘grandmillennial’ trend, this must-have décor style brings past styles into contemporary living. Also known as ‘granny chic’, the trend celebrates floral patterns and retro designs to evoke some much-loved and sorely missed nostalgia.

Don’t hold back on home comforts

Autumn and winter are made for snuggling up with a good book or Netflix series and relaxing and being cosy. Create the perfect home for cosy nights in by going overboard on home comforts, another must-have trend of the season.

Adorn the flooring with faux furs, the settees with knitted throws and the armchair with soft plump cushions for an interior made for indulgent comfort.

Now you’ve got a home brimming with style, elegance and comfort, you can sit back and snuggle up as the frost thickens in the mornings and the dark nights creep up with a vengeance.
