Lymington Mews, Dagenham, Essex
The Lymington Mews Site once housed part of Barking Technical College in the 1980s, is one of the first to be released by the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, as part of his drive to unlock development on public sector owned land. Lovell was selected to take the development forward and will continue to work in partnership with the Mayor and the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham to deliver new homes by 2017. – The scheme will see 362 private, rented and shared ownership houses and apartments built on the 12.8-hectare brownfield site. They will include 213 homes for private sale by Lovell. There will also be 104 homes for affordable rent and 45 homes for shared ownership sale which will be available through housing provider Home Group.
The brief was to provide and create two different modern style show houses in the heart of Romford which is a primarily Asian market.
The two bedroom show house was aimed at young professionals whilst the four bedroom was aimed at small families/ downsizers.
Louise Haik the interior designer for the project said “I achieved the younger look and feel of the two bedroom house through using an infusion of striking colour on a primarily white background. I paired bright cushions, accessories and artwork with a wide array of light neutral coloured textures and upholstered pieces, white gloss and clear glass furniture and neutral geometric prints. The vibrancy of the colour injection I feel was really successful in bringing the scheme to life and gave it the wow factor that I wanted to achieve”
“The four bedroom house was also achieved through the use of bold splashes of colour. The more mature, sophisticated feel that was essential in differentiating the two houses from each other was achieved through a more tonal softer looking backdrop. The main feature being a deep buttoned ottoman completed with light reflective mirrored surfaces. I feel these simple features really embellish the scheme with the touch of luxury that I was striving for.
Greg Kaye Sales Manager for Lovell Homes said “It has been a great experience working with New i.d from their initial pitch for two show houses at our Lymington Mews development in Dagenham through to seeing the finished homes. They have been easy to liaise with and made sure the houses were finished and looking great in time for our launch. The finished homes were instrumental in ensuring we had a very successful launch and we have had nothing but positive feedback on the show homes”
