21 Colonnade, London, W1
Colonnade is a development of three contemporary mews house converted former industrial/commercial units. The houses combine the elegance of the past with the style of the 21st century
New i.d were commissioned to design and dress one of the three properties which had been converted from office space into luxurious 3 bedroom houses.
The brief given was very open that gave us a chance to be creative and original in our design. During our site visit the high ceilings, open space and industrial warehouse like characteristics of the property really dictated the overall style. With this in mind Amrit Lattimore the designer and project manager designed an interior to emphasise the vast space playing heavily on metals and textures to emanate a warm and inviting feel. The key features of the design include a very eclectic mix of styles, for example a Zinc metal dining table paired with classical chairs and vintage crockery all with very distinctive elements of metal running through. Another key feature which emphasises the space is the use of staggered artwork in the reception area which runs along the height of the chimney breast and immediately creates a ‘wow’ and draws your attention to the wonderful high ceilings. The use of Jean Paul Gaultier cushions and high end luxury fabrics highlight the vastly sought out and in-vogue location of the property in the heart of Bloomsbury. Overall I would find It hard to describe a singular look for the interior, aesthetically speaking it is a profound mix of styles that all unite together to create an intricate and maybe surprising harmony.
